August Mystery Tackle Box vs. Lucky Tackle Box Review

Month two of our monthly lure subscriptions: Still, I get a little bit of Christmas tingle when checking out the contents of both our boxes. We brought in a bunch of the Thunderhawk soft baits as a result of reading through one of the subscriptions when we made the decision to book the monthly service. Last month’s Yozuri 3DB Shad and Storm Arashi lures got plenty of use. We’ll probably be adding them to the in-house line up as well.

What’s in the month’s boxes? Let’s find out!

The August MTB box features a Walleye Pro: Bite Booster Trolling plus Model S

($13.99), Rapala Tail Dance ($10.99), Lunkerhunt Spicy Bites ($5.99), Lunkerhunt Spicy Tube 4” 8 pk ($5.99), Strike Pro Finesse Grub 3” 8pk ($5.79), Quick Change Systems 2 hook live bait rig ($3.79). The sticker and the Dibble. For the box content, see http://mysterytacklebox.com/boxes/wallpro004. Good value again. I was intrigued by the Bite Booster in a catalog recently, so naturally, we were very excited to see that in the box this month. Also read about tail dancers several times but never tried one, so this box will get me over that hump.

The Lucky Tackle Box Bass “XL” box featured the Castaic BD Series Shad 4” ($20.00), Chasing Trophy Fish EOC Stick Bait 3.5” ($7.50), Cabin Creek Bait Co.

Buoy Worm 5pk ($5.79), Mustad KVD Triple Grip Short Shank Treble hook 4 pack ($4.99), Vicious Fishing Tubby Tube 4” 5 pack ($3.99), Lunkerhunt Popin’ Frog ($7.99), and Sebile Vibe machine ($5.99). Value for product delivered stays very high for LTB. I’ve fished a bunch of the Sebile lures in the past, always with success. The Lunkerhunt frog looks like a nice big frog that will have great action. If it puts some fish in my boat, I’ll put it in the webstore for sure. We’ll have to try the others to see how they do. LTB has a youtube channel that shows how to fish the stuff if you want a little guidance youtube.com/luckytacklebox. Also included is the “Fishhound Magazine” with some tips from the pros.

Is there a clear winner between the two? Same results for us as last month’s boxes, a split vote. For new/unique products - MTB. Straight cash value – LTB.

We will be working hard testing these lures from our demo kayaks, Nu-Canoe’s, and fishing SUPs. The best of them will be added to our in-store product line up. The rest, well, we will either wear them out in the field, or give them away at demo events.

Keep an eye on the MVKS website, blog, Facebook, and Instagram, to stay up to date with our new products and promotions. We strive to run a spam free business, so you have to sign up if you want to hear about the latest demo events and news.
